Lament's Heart

Genesis 50:1-14 is our text for this evening. Tonight we are confronted with Joseph’s response to his father’s death and the large funeral that follows. In the middle of our passage we find the phrase “grievous lamentation” twice. What is lament? Is it the same as sorrow, mourning, grief and heartache? Scripture gives us a helpful picture of lament’s heart and how we are to understand this process. Join us as we walk through tonight’s passage and seek to develop a Biblical understanding of lament.
