The Awakening

Tonight we will be looking at Genesis 42:1-17. Beginning in Genesis 42 much of the focus now shifts to Joseph’s brothers. These brothers are hardened men, riddled with guilt from their past and now facing survival in the midst of a worldwide famine. In Joseph’s brothers we are blessed to be able to see how God works through ordinary means to awaken true faith and repentance. How does God draw people unto Himself? How does God stir in us conviction of sin, a realization of our need for Him and an awakening to the newness of life? Over the next several weeks we will see how God does this in the lives of Joseph’s brothers and be challenged to look at our own lives and how God may be trying to do these same things for us.
