Breakthrough

Tonight we will be looking at all of Genesis 38. In this chapter we find another story that seems strangely placed in the narrative of Genesis. Yet, when looking closely, we see clearly why Moses included this story in the history of the patriarchs. We are tempted to often see Scripture as a book of examples of how to live rightly. We wrongly believe that the primary focus of Scripture is help us know how live morally upright lives. The problem with this understanding is that it fails to see that Scripture is ultimately about God’s glory and His desire to reveal His grace to His people. In tonight’s text I pray that we can see this clearly and further understand that God’s Word in about God and His pursuit of His glory and His people’s redemption.
