A Unique Priest

Tonight we will be studying Genesis 14:1-24. In this chapter we find the first recorded war in the Bible, a battle that Abram decides to enter, that is followed by an interesting interaction between Abram & Melchizedek. In this interaction we find little out about Melchizedek, but the writer of Hebrews helps us to see that he is a type of Christ found in the Old Testament. From Hebrews we find that Jesus is a priest “after the order of Melchizedek.” What does this mean? What does it mean that Jesus is a priest? How does this impact how we understand Jesus today? Join us as we explore these verses and this important topic.
