God Creates Life For A Reason
A Lesson
Job was a man acquainted with grief, fear, and physical pain. He had everything taken from him, including his family. He endured sickness, pain, ridicule, and judgment from his friends. Everyone gave him advice about his situation, causing him to question his spirituality and his belief in God. We read of similar trials and tribulations throughout other books of the Bible, including in Isaiah 53:3.
Job’s circumstances were bad but, ultimately, he persevered despite reservations.
Created by God, Job knew his life had meaning and purposes, regardless of the circumstances.
In our present culture, we’ve lost that basic truth: every life is made and is allowed to live by God’s sovereign authority. One of our main purposes in life is to allow God to create new life from us, through children, God willing. Our purpose is not to maintain an easy life, filled with as many pleasures and as little inconveniences as possible. As people who pride ourselves on our independence, our culture has a hard time acknowledging our dependence on God. From our creation, when we were knit together in our mother’s womb, to our last breath, God’s word is clear – “In his hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.”
It is time for us as individuals and as a society to recognize that we exist by God’s grace. We need to turn back to Him, honoring His word and His teachings. Our world is full of Jobs – people dealing with trials and tribulations and hurting desperately. Job’s response should be ours as well.
Regardless of what we face (even an unplanned pregnancy), God in His wisdom and mercy will redeem it. God restores all that we think we initially lose through inconvenient lives.
A Prayer
Almighty God, thank you for being a loving Father and the Creator of my life and every life. Please give us, and the society in which we live, an appreciation for your gift of life. Please help us to see it as a gift, and not a burden, in all situations. We pray that those in power will not only protect life, but appreciate life and come to know that it is You who grants life. We pray for the restoration of legal protection for the unborn, the disabled, the medically dependent, and those near death. We pray this all in Jesus’ name. Amen.
